Ukraine is located in eastern Europe. Ukraine is bordered by the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, Russia to the east & north, Belarus to the north, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary to the west, and Romania and Moldova to the south.

The northeast portion of the Ukraine has radiation contamination from the 1986 accident at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Other environmental issues for this country include: deforestation; air and water pollution; inadequate supplies of potable water.
